Well, here we are close to my big day and the start of Week 27. In case you were not aware, we had some MAJOR COMPUTER problems last week and I had to change computers out to do the show. Friday last was the show using the new computer and we had some technical problems and I worked on it over the weekend. Still having some problems I ran a “Classic Show” on

Monday July 19th which was my foray into the so called “Highgate Vampire” case out of London England. I interviewed one of the principals .. Mr. David Farrant and the story has not only “high drama” but also elements of The Three Stooges! The other guy involved with this story is “BISHOP” Sean Manchester … who maintains to this very day (he could be off his medication) that there was a REAL VAMPIRE .. you know .. the SUPERNATURAL Blood Sucking kind .. that took up house in Highgate Cemetery. Oooo .. can’t you feel the tension? All in all a fun show. And to show he was serious … here is Sean!

Tuesday July 20 I have Mr. Louis Jarvis on. Louis was Ambassador to the United Nations on behalf of the Hopi Nation. When speaking to Louis earlier we discussed many things involving not only UFOs but what may be considered some world class conspiracies. This promises to be a very interesting show.

Well, the third week of Dark Matters Radio is already upon us! This week there is some exciting radio ahead.

On Feb. 01 (Feb. 2 on the East Coast) the week starts out with Mr. John Spencer, a world renowned British Paranormal researcher and author joining us from the United Kingdom. John has researched and written on such diverse topics as “stigmata” to UFOs with side stops around the poltergeist phenomena.

John is a very meticulous researcher, careful and articulate.

Tuesday evening we will be joined by C. Scott Littleton, PhD. Dr. Littleton is a former Professor of Anthropology as well as former Chairperson of the Department of Anthropology at Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. Currently enjoying Emeritus status, he joined the Occidental faculty in 1962, retiring at the end of the spring semester, 2002, after a highly succesful and distinguished academic career. Over the years he has garnered a reputation as a very knowledgeable UFO researcher and expert on the mysterious “Battle of Los Angeles” which took place in early 1942, at the very beginning of the Second World War. Dr. Littleton is also the author of “Phase Two”, a science fiction novel dealing with the UFO Phenomena.

Wed. we take a darker turn into the supernatural with a very close look at a modern day vampire tale, the “Highgate Vampire.” This supernatural tale took place in the world famous Highgate Cemetery in north London, England, UK in the time period of 1969-1970 time frame. Ghouls, girls, blood draining, haunted cemetery’s and a guy who now claims to be a Bishop in the “Old Catholic” faith in the UK, and spooky goings on … in Merry Ol’ England.

Thursday evening, (early Friday morning-East Coast) Kevin Randle, PhD and retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel will join us at Dark Matters.
One of the formost experts on the Roswell Incident in the United States, Randle will talk about his new upcoming book “Crash” and recent events in the UFO field … and many other things! Don’t miss it!

Friday will be an “open lines” show with some surprises! Be there at 10:00 PM Pacific, 1:00 AM Easter – Monday – Friday, Tuesday – Saturday.

Normally I wouldn’t have a blog posting like the above after just doing another post on my favorite bogus vampire case …. The Highgate Train-wreck. However … I was out doing some research because I am working off and on on the sequel to Past Sins. So, I was up on this guys site that I check a couple of times a week and see something that I never knew about, he has a SECOND website that he runs in tandem with his regular site. I figure KEWL, I will check this out. So I am on the new site (new to me) and I am checking out the links and I discovered this one. Dagmar Krauss, Vampyr Hunter I go up there and I figure this must be some kind of put-on so I explore a little bit. Now, this guy either must be someone with way too much time on his hands, or in desperate need of proper medications. Be that as it may be, it was entertaining. For example reading some of his readers comments … one guy wanted to see what kind of crossbow this guy used. Viola! a photo……

In another post he presented a photograph he took with his cameraphone just before he dispatched the critter! Hear that Sean? This guy at least took pictures!

I gotta admit that this vamp is scarier than that Highgate one. See …..

So I recommend that those wacky Brits wander on over to Dagmar’s site and see how he does it! If nothing else Dagmar’s prose is a bit saltier and much more entertaining. Of course if he does end up getting on some type of medication perhaps he will share with our British cousins and they can get a discount on bulk sales.  If they do however, I suppose some of the entertainment value of this will be lost. Oh well …..  on vampire hunters ….

The net’ can be a strange place. Now, I’ve always considered myself to be “mostly sane” although I will admit to a number of bouts of “youthful exuberance.”  Of course since I can no longer legitimately be called a YOUTH, most of my exuberance has mellowed. Be that as it may, Bubba … there be some strange dudes out there in web land!

Now several times on this blog I have mentioned my fascination into what was orignally described as a real case of … supernatural vampirism in the UK. This case is known collectively as the “Highgate Vampire” case. If you go back and read my past blog posting of ”
Vampires & Nasties -British Nancy Boys I gave a rough overview of the case and why I was interested. Being a former detective with a penchent for looking into the off-beat and the weird, (and hell, for 20 years I was Director-Research for UFO Magazine) I wanted to know if there was anything real to this Highgate business or if it was simply bull-shit. Well, after taking mucho abuse, being defamed on the web, being called a war-mongering American who took the word of a “convicted fellon” over an upright and most Holy Christain Bishop, I can report that the Highgate Vampire was simply a HUGE pile of BullShit. Now, let me tell you a little bit about the guy that shoveled all that shit out there……. Sean Manchester.

Back when I was willing to possibly concede that there might have been “something” to the Highgate business I tried to contact Manchester to interview him. This was through a friend and researcher living in the UK, and Manchester refused to allow me to contact him. I started to investigate the case from here by purchasing Manchester’s book “The Highgate Vampire”, and also his “The Vampire Hunters Handbook”.  (By the way, in the second book there is damned little on how to hunt vampires but there is a ton of Manchester whining and sniveling about all kinds of folks he thinks “wronged him”.) I ended up speaking to folks like David Farrant,

the other principal name connected to Highgate, and Dr. J. Gordon Melton, considered one of the most knowlegable folks on Planet Earth on vampire myths. (And what the hell, since this is my blog I will share this…. Gordon Melton read my horror novel, Past Sins, wrote me and told me how much he enjoyed it … and he offered to do a review on it once back from China. ….bout 2 or 3 years ago…. after he returned I wrote him telling him how much I looked forward to his review … several times and he never did write it …. why? No idea ….) I also spoke to people in the UK, world reknown investigators, and of course made my own inquires. I discovered several very interesting things.

Like one thing I discovered was there were TWO versions of Manchesters book. The first edition had tons of photos that were pulled from the second edition.

In the first edition was a girl he called Lusia, not her real name, who he claimed was attacked by his vampire creature and she DIED and returned as a vampire!

Oh boy, being a former detective with an interest in weird stuff…. I wanted to find out who this girl was. Couldn’t find a thing until I located an obscure podcast called “World of the Unexplained” that had interviewed Manchester and David Farrant at different times. During Farrants interview he identified her as one Jackie Cooper. I contacted my buddy in the UK to check the cemetery where she was supposed to have been buried. No match or deaths at all for good ol’ Jackie. Oh, and did I mention the other thing Manchester claimed? That after he first tracked down and “dispatched” (read … drive a wooden stake into the vampires chest…..) that Jackie returned from the dead and stalked him? He then tracked her down, she TURNED INTO A GIANT SPIDER VAMPIRE, he staked her, she returned to her TRUE form, and he re-buried her? Oh yes, our fearless Vampire Hunter CLAIMS THIS IS ALL THE GOD’S TRUTH! Whoa and behold ANYBODY WHO QUESTIONS THE RIGHT REV. SEAN MANCHESTER, VAMPIRE HUNTER ESQ.! He will “Web-stalk you”, use Aliases and assumed names, defame you, threaten you, and all around try to make your life miserable. He tried it with me.

Back when I had my first Dark Matters Radio blog site I had a very active forum where folks could come in to chat about my radio show, stuff on the paranormal, you name it. I ended up having a forum site just for the Highgate Vampire case because there were so many people wishing to talk about it. On the D-Day (June 6) Anniversery about 2 years ago I put up a posting about two fellows that experienced D-Day on the sharp end of the stick. Well let me just re-post it here.

64 years ago today the Americans and the allies began the operation to free Europe from Nazi tyranny. So as to not be forgotten.

Sixty four years ago today, America embarked on a great crusade.

Although the preparation started much earlier, the role of the United States of America in bringing freedom around the globe started with those brave men who parachuted and landed on the shores of Nazi Occupied Europe on a gray, bloody June morning 64 years ago today.
They just tried to stay alive that day, but they began the unshackling of untold millions from evil and slavery that still continues today, with their grandchildren in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Dick Winters and Leonard Lomell (Toms River, NJ) typified the best and brightest America had to give on D-Day. Their deeds that day must always be remembered.

Well, I almost popped a blood vessel. (And if you happen to be a Vet, or have a loved one who is a Veteran, you can write Sean Manchester to tell him what you think at helpdesk@gothicpress.fslife.co.uk )This was after Manchester, under an assumed computer user identity, accused me of being an “American War-Monger” because of my Viet Nam service. As I said later, I was soooooo happy I was here (So. Calf.) and not there (Bournmouth-England-UK) because I just wouldn’t trust myself if I happened to “bump” into good ol’ Sean. You see, one of the things I discovered in my investigation into Manchester was that the girl he claimed turned into his “vampire” was listed by Seans first wife Marie, as the cause of Sean and Maries divorce. On the decree Jackie was listed as Jacqueline Manchester, formerly Cooper. And Sean had a couple of kids he abandoned and left behind. So recently he attempted a character assassination on the webmaster of  Net Curtain Lurkers which is a humerous look at the Manchester, vampire crappola, and David Farrant saga. I mean some vile stuff directed at this person. Hell, I couldn’t let that go. And, lest I forget, the man is INFAMOUS for conducting Internet Feuds WORLDWIDE. I could fill up the next dozen pages just with names that this MORON went after.

So remember Sean, it is never a good idea to go out of your way to piss someone off who buys ink by the gallon and spend their spare time in front of a radio microphone. It will come back to bite you …. you Holy Joe … you.

Well, the 4th of July is now history. Summer moves along and Vicki and I spent the holiday with some friends from years past, Richard and Gloria Sarradet. Rich and I go way back to the very early 90’s and back in those days, Richard was getting his feet wet trying to do something in the entertainment media with the UFO subject. Richard had been a huge star on daytime TV’s General Hospital playing a lawyer  Howard Lansing.

Richard appeared with me on UFOs Tonite on a number of occasions and back in those days we had occasion to make business trips over to Las Vegas a number of times. On one of those trips Richard and I had a UFO sighting. The damn thing was flying in circles (just a pin-point white light) and during our viewing two jets from LA flew through and the damn thing stopped and froze until the jets were gone. Weird huh?

Well, back to the 4th. I had not had any contact with Rich for a long time and on July 2nd I called him. We got together for brunch on Friday (it lasted 5 hours) and he invited Vicki and I over to his beautiful home in Topanga to share the 4th with his lovely wife Gloria and family. We had a 5 Star Bar-B-Que, ribs grilled to perfection by another old friend, Steve McMahon. Damn, what a great day. But back to business ….

In my last posting I mentioned my great buddies Gene Steinberg and David Biedny over at the Paracast inviting me to make use of Paracast for my past radio programming.

Well, today, July 7th, Gene gave me a separate forum ( The Best of Dark Matters Radio ) just for those shows. My God, talk about a generous man and great friend. I just uploaded one a Magnum Opus of investigations on The Paracast, a show that I had to wade through 20 years of records, audio tapes and past issues of our magazine on a certain Milton Wm. Cooper. In just one day this two hour show has been accessed literally hundreds of times. Good Lord, I told Gene and folks I feel like jumping back into the radio fray right now. However I have hundreds of shows, which have the added benefit of being a great historical database, that I will go through and the gems I will add to the list. What a great bunch of folks are Gene and David.

Oh, I almost forgot so let me tell you now before I do. Another show I uploaded to the Paranet is one titled “VAMPIRES & Tits and Ass.” It is concerned with the Highgate Vampire Case I’ve talked about before, right here. There are some absolutely hilarious website out there dealing with this case.

A couple that have featured stuff I’ve written or sites dealing with the silliness of this are John Baldry’s Cat. Silly name right? However if you are familiar with The Onion, you will have an idea. Another is Net Curtains Lurker, The Human Touch by David Farrant and finally Did a Wampyr Walk in Highgate? All great fun, much silliness AND this all details the Worlds longest running internet feud. Geeze, how can you lose with that? Today Boys and Girls, we take a different tack … we are gonna talk about Vampires!

Okay, my question is … “Who doesn’t like a great horror tale, especially if a little sex and T&A is thrown in? I do, so I hope this doesn’t upset your view of me. Now, I got a story to tell you! (And it has the advantage of being absolutely TRUE!) If you’ve been dropping by here for awhile, you know that several months ago I left a post about writing and my published horror novel “Past Sins.” Past Sins is a tale about what might happen if the American Intelligence establishment managed to get their hands on a “gen-u-wine, no bullshit, honest to God VAMPIRE”, attempt to weaponize it, and how it would probably turn out! (Here is a hint, not so bloody damn good.) Now, if you stopped for a second to wonder why a guy with my background would be interested in such topics, well here is the answer.

Back in the 80’s I was a cop and in “81-82” I was tasked to investigate several cattle mutilations. Part of the evidence on those cattle mutes was the fact that the animals were missing quite a bit of blood that could not be accounted for. What I just related is both very weird and also true. By the way, this mutilation phenomena is damn near world-wide and it has never been solved. But, during this time is also when I first heard about something called the “Highgate Vampire Case.” Highgate is a cemetery in North London that was first consecrated in 1839, and during the Victorian Era was the place to be buried in. Some very well known “heavy-weights” are planted there. (Karl Marx for example.) I could go on for pages about this subject, I did end up investigating the “so-called vampire” and here it is in a nutshell. Oh, and did I say … NUT Shell? Well lets just stop at NUT.

When I finally did manage to find some info out on Highgate it was the early 1990’s, and my first sources came from the internet. I discovered two names entwined with Highgate, one Sean Manchester and the other a David Farrant.

Oh yes, lest I forget .. there also seemed to be a feud between these two guys, a feud that spanned over 30 years! It still goes on to this day! Really. Did I mention that I also became somewhat involved in this feud? Well I did and brother let me tell you … American crazies got NUTTIN’ on British crazies. The upshot is that Manchester bills himself (to this day) as an actual, no kidding, honest-to-God, only gonna say this once, Vampire Hunter and Killer! ( Well that is if Vampires were living, which anybody that ever watched the old Hammer Film version of Dracula KNOWS that Vampires are the Dreaded UNDEAD!) Did I mention he loves to play “dress-up”?

Maybe I should just say a Vampire Dispatcher. Anyways ….

David Farrant is an actual, honest-to-God, no kidding around, bonafide Paranormal researcher who now claims he does not believe in real honest-to-God blood drinking and sucking Vampires, but does buy into spirits that go bump in the night, kind of like Ghostie thingies.

When I discovered these two guys I tried to contact Manchester to interview him. He wanted nothing to do with me. I discovered he had written a book about his alleged investigation and ultimate dispatching of what he claimed was a vampire that had been haunting the Highgate Cemetery, so I tried to find the book here in the U.S. but couldn’t so I ordered it from the U.K.

I read it (very turgid prose) and was still intrigued. One thing that he claimed was that this young and beautiful girl (he called Lusia) had been attacked by the vampire and finally turned into a gen-u-wine, honest-to-God, no kidding around, blood sucking Vampire! And then he staked her ass! (Had to save the world and all don’t you know!) This was almost too much for me, so I did what any self respecting cop would do, tried to track this babe down. (Yeah, the photos I found showed she did appear to be a babe. Sorry Ladies, a guy thing.)

No luck and I even had a research contact in the U.K. So anyway I was stuck until I discovered a podcast radio show that had both these guys (Manchester & Farrant) on their show at different times. These two guys appear to loath each other.

The babe’s real name turned up via Farrant, one Jackie Cooper. Wow! Now I had somewhere to go with this. Finally after this Manchester boob refused to allow me to interview him, I contacted Farrant and interviewed him on my show Dark Matters. This turned into a rollicking almost two hour show … and warts and all were exposed! Farrant admitted to spending several years in the Queen’s Pokey (prison) for grave desecration (and he claimed he was framed mainly by our boy Manchester, and Manchester proved to be an attention seeking whore who never missed an opportunity to get his name or face in the newspaper. These two “fought duels” with swords (supposedly) and had it in the papers, and at one time Manchester even faked his death and solicited funds to have his “body” shipped back to England from France!

(A very humorous sideline was when the CID (police detectives) dropped by Farrant’s “flat” to ask him what he did with Manchester’s body after he “killed him” in a duel, and Farrant, trying for that understated British quip, told them since this was out of the U.K.’s jurisdiction, they should contact INTERPOL! The cops were not amused.

I had an entire forum dedicated to this topic (at the time I was bored and needed the amusement) and was surprised at the people from all over the globe that ended up jumping into this topic! The Manchester bunch (probably he himself… oh yeah, now he claims he is a man of the cloth, a Bishop no less in the Old Catholic Church and he has tons of aliases) sent photos of Farrant cavorting with nude chicks,

holding “black arts ceremonies” and all kinds of juicy things. Then it turned out that the “Bish’s spouse” was at one time a “sacred prostitute” in some kind of Black Magic thingie. Geeze! I mean, how can this get any better?

Oh yeah, lest I forget … anybody who questions this Manchester guy gets internet stalked and threatened by his bunch. Now if you were to ask me my bottom line? Well back in the day (1970’s to the 1980’s) I think these two were simply trying to get laid. Told you it was my bottom line. However this “feud” has gone on so long that I believe these two forgot what it was all about and are so locked into this thing, they will both end up dying with it on their minds …..

Oh well, every once in a while I kind of go to their sites and lurk, read what is going on and then end up with a HUGE SMILE on my face …….. What the hell, its good for a laugh. Sad part is, I wonder if they know OR care how “BLOODY RIDICULOUS” they appear to the rest of the world? VAMPIRES???? Oh those Wacky Brits!

ADDENDUM

There is a Ton of Stuff on the so-called Highgate Case. If you plug that into Google or plug Farrant or Manchester into the mix you will find many hours or days worth of reading and wading through the material. Just try to separate the “wheat from the chaff” and you will see what I mean. But after I posted the above I did a Google on Highgate to see what new was up there. Remember ol’ Mr. Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show? Actor Anthony Head narrates a video put out by our “fearless Vampire Slayer” the Right Reverand and most Holy Joe, Sean Manchester. And!! Manchester manages to say he BELIEVES IN VAMPIRES! with a straight face! If you want to waste a couple of minutes …. here is the video!
